Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF)took place from 19 to 22 of May at the Building Complex Gate Ermou 117-121 and at the multiplex art space six d.o.g.s. Under the theme Digital Pop, the Festival featured the different aspects of Pop culture in the digital era.

450 artists from 80 countries presented their work exploring the impact of the Internet and digital culture on everyday life. For 4 days, ADAF created a space where visitors and artists exchanged their own experiences and stories with regards to the influence of new technologies on our way of living, ranging from social media and digital aesthetics to virtual reality and digital sound. In this framework, the Festival’s program included interactive installations, web art, digital image, video art & animation screenings, presentations of international festivals, participatory workshops, talks, audiovisual performances, and DJ sets. Moreover, the Festival team curated the special program Users’ Area, where visitors had the chance to watch the most popular viral videos of the last decade.

Thousands of visitors attended the Festival and had the opportunity to get closer to digital culture and get familiar with new artistic practices. The Festival through its multifaceted program, its collaboration with leading international Festivals and the electronic music label raster-noton, presented a wide spectrum of today’s pop culture highlighting its different aspects. In addition, the Festival introduced the new section ADAF KIDS and welcomed kids and families to the magic world of digital culture.

Moreover, in the framework of the action #ΕU4U the festival organized a photo contest in collaboration with the Delegation of European Commission and the European Parliament Office in Greece. Finally, ADAF2016 and COSMOTE One, co-organised the real-time participatory project One Open Studio led by the artist Nikos Tsounakas, who collaborated with the festival’s audience, in order to create a collective artwork of augmented reality.

We would like to thank you all for participating and supporting this year’s edition and we are looking forward to seeing you back again in Athens Digital Arts Festival 2017with the promise of an even more complete experience.
